It's a large fossil in a large chunk of white stone (higher than my waist). In order to 'see' inside a crack, I set the exposure to cope with the dark inside rather than the light outside - so the fossil shows but the detail in the rock doesn't. The darker bit in the top left corner is another piece of what I think is the same fossil where it breaks through the surface - but it is blurred because the focus is on the inside bit.
Nice shots, I enjoy all your photoes, give me inspiration. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteIts a beautiful image but I'm not sure what I'm looking at.
ReplyDeleteHow interesting! I stared at it for a while trying to make it out, it's almost abstract.
ReplyDeleteHello - perhaps I should explain?

I assume it's a large ammonite.
