Is that today Lucy ? Still fairly mild but what a change from the sun yesterday. Thick cloud hee.

Hello Hermes. Yes; this morning at twenty past nine. I was photographing into the light so it wasn't quite as dark as it seems in the photo. However, it was very dull and grey - solid cloud. Damp air but little actual rain. The wind got up rather unpleasantly for a short while this afternoon but, apart from that, it's not been cold.

Looks like my area today also.
Gloomy, gray and nice! The land in the background looks like Diamond Head in Honolulu...

Very serene and beautiful.

Very nice Lucy! I wish it was just clouds here in Maine instead of snow.

Ohh, that's beautiful. Love the subtle reflection off the water - very dreamy.

That spider-like thingy is actually a sea gull flying in the background.

A stunningly great shot......right up my street. You did it better.

This is so lovely. It's also funny to see this and to look out the window at our Portland sky (on the other coast) and see bright sun for a change.

The sun looks like it is trying to make an appearance in the background.

Nice with the gray and black together!
Thank you for your sweet comment too :)

Hello Pat. I'm not familiar with Honolulu but a friend seeing the view slightly to the left of this shot (so it's almost nothing but sea) for the first time (on a day when the water was a stunningly deep blue) said it reminded him of the Solomon Islands. We seem to be in an ultra-exotic spot!

Carver - I agree. Serene and beautiful. The kind of scene one can just stand and gaze at. (Which I do!)

Hello Cindi. I expect you are fed up with snow by now but, when we had a short spell of it before Christmas, we were very excited because we don't often have it on this part of the south coast of England.

Thanks Gunnar.

Hello Woody. It is dreamlike, isn't it? I think I will carry on seeing the bird in the distance as a spider on the tree. It gives a nice sense of the small ordinary amidst the wider extraordinary. (!)

Thanks Adrian. Glad you like the photo so enthusiastically.

Hello Luis, Frank and Kenneth. Pleased you like the picture too!

Hello Christine. I find I get information about your Portland sometimes when I do a Google search for something local. I also find Oregon Portland people begin to follow me on Twitter from time to time - then realise I am irrelevant!

Hello Chuck. The sun didn't manage much in the way of an appearance yesterday, though there was always enough light filtering through the clouds. I think the camera found it more interesting than I did.

Hello T. Becque - well, your photograph is pretty good!

For others who would like to see the photo I mean - this is the URL.
