IF ONLY KING HENRY HAD READ THE NOTICE!

This is Sandsfoot Castle. It was built in the time of Henry V111 but began to fall into disrepair as early as the 1640s.

It is now being worked on before it falls down completely.

Old stones. Modern scaffolding. New notice. If only King Henry had been able to see that 'don't do it' notice at the time - just think how different history would have been!

I like the depth of field in this one. And yes, I had to smile at the thought of Henry following that advice :)

Hello Kitty - I smile, too, at the thought of Henry V111 following any advice!

Hello Dragonstar - I'm interested too by the irregularity of the stones.

Hello Anemonen - so pleased you like the way I have taken the picture of the castle ruins and the scaffolding.

Hello Rune - Not much remains of the castle. The middle is hollow and there are great chunks of it on the beach below. It has interested me that the scaffolding, un-lovely as it is, has given the place definition. It reminds one there used to be separate floors.

Thanks Pat. It's frustrating that this is about the only way one can see in at present. The fence has been surrounded by corrugated iron. This photo was taken through the gate. Luckily, it 'worked'.

I love these photos Lucy...so much texture and interesting forms. If history would have been different, you might not have been born to show us your beautiful photographs!

Hello LauraX. Thanks for your comment.

If history had been different . . . many people who have never been born might have been alive if their ancestors had not been sent to the scaffold.

I'm pleased you like the photos. I enjoy seeking out subject matter and posting it here very much. It is an extra, special pleasure that people like them.
