Hi Rune. I agree. Warming and cheerful and the colours harmonise so well. Maybe that's why we associate red and green with Christmas. (Is that the case in Norway too?)

Hello Toffee Apple. Yes. There are masses of leaves from last year still on the bushes. They are tatty but many of them are beautiful and almost all interesting. I suppose it has been like this in other years but I've not noticed. We haven't had many windy days in the last few months so it's possible it is exceptional after all - they simply haven't been blown away.
Hi Zeder. While replying to these comments I was interrupted by a phone call from a friend in Berlin. She is having such a wonderful visit there I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't go back at the first opportunity.
