Trains are a big deal in my town. We get dozens of them everyday transporting coal to the nearby power plant.
But, train tracks place a big part in my memory. When I was in the 3rd grade my brother pushed me off a bluff and I landed on the train tracks below cutting a large gash in my head.
Hi Toffeeapple. Yes. Tracks still in use. Two trains an hour. (One in each direction.) It's the line which goes from Weymouth to Bristol - through lots of villages and lovely countryside. Being on it is an event and a day out in its own right.
Hello Rune - agreed. Masses of lines. (Maybe not masses but . . . quite a few parallels.)
Hello Scott. It's odd, isn't it? Even on the same side of the track there are straight-line variations in colour, depending on the nature of the undergrowth.
Hi Easygardener. Laying gravel on a toy track sounds like a labour of love or obsession. (Or both.)
Hello Kerri - I'm glad the railway photo brought back good memories.
Hell Rita. How awful to be pushed onto a track. Hope other memories of your brother are of more cordial moments!
Thanks Brian. A complement from a photographer of your calibre means a lot!

Still in use by the look of them.
There are more lines here than the railway ones. Very interesting.
Interesting difference in the colors on the two sides of the tracks.
Reminds me of the toy train layout I made for my son when he was small. I spent ages getting that gravel under the tracks to look realistic.
Trains and tracks remind me of my childhood. Thanks for the memory!

That's a great perspective, Lucy! Nice shot!
