Moss between cobbles, yellow lines, railings, car

Yellow lines.

I'm not entirely sure why, but I find that corner very appealing! I will never see anything like it in my hometown. I could imagine setting a chair right in to that corner, stitching and watching the world go by. =)

Hello Desertskyquilts. That's such an interesting comment I went onto Google images for pictures of Knoxville but it seems quite urban - old and modern. So then, rather randomly, looked at pictures of Tennessee in general. And now I'd like to know more about why you wouldn't find a scene like this. Is it that the area is too dry to support moss . . . or does moss get scraped away rather than left to grow . .. ? With the title of your blog . . . are you right out in real desert where you live and Knoxville is more a postal address than a precise location?

I really like all the different textures from front to back in this photos.
It really draws the down the line...

Thanks Pat. I'm glad you like this picture too. Sometimes I know exactly why I'm drawn to a scene but at others (as with this) I'd have to analyse it. But somehow, for all the apparent bleakness, it somehow 'works'. Interesting that both of you who have commented on this particular image are familiar with deserts. I'm wondering if there's a connection.
