Hello Toffeeapple and Taken for Granted. I have visited South Wales but don't know it well. I think a difference might be that the South Wales valleys run roughly in parallel with each other whereas Halifax is in a kind of bowl with hills rising up around it. But it's not quite that valleys converge either rather that there are odd ravines (with bridges over bridges). I would like to find a relief model to help me grasp it properly.
Hello Magic Eye. I too like this view - and have looked at it differently ever since I took this photograph. Sometimes photos help me see things in ways I should have seen them earlier instead of me photographing what I've already appreciated. I think until then I had looked at my feet when walking down this hill.

It looks very similar to my home town in South Wales, we were used to seeing that kind of sight.
This town must be in a valley. The people give your photo scale and softens image.

Love this perspective!
