I have no idea - it looks like an umbrella that lost it's fabric! But it reminds me of something, too, something having to do with listening devices, just can't think what. So ... what is it?
Hello Susan. I see what you mean about the umbrella. I'm assuming that bit is to stop people climbing the pole rather than something intrinsic to its purpose but what that purpose is - I don't know! If you remember what it is that it reminds you of, do come back and say. It would be good to solve the puzzle.
Hello Taken for Granted. It does have the air of a listening device. Maybe it's a delicate version of a mobile phone mast? - especially as it's towards the top of a hill. Glad you like the photo. I'll try to see if I can take another from another angle in case that helps to solve the mystery.
