Love the look of the stairs in this shopping mall. Unlikely you could buy corn here.

Hello Taken for Granted. I like the stairs too. It's clever that this fun and unusual decoration has been put into an otherwise elegant environment and has enhanced rather than spoiled it.

Is that a shopping mall? From the name, I thought it was a trading place. It looks nothing like a mall here. =) The covering on the stairways is so interesting, and the colors bring out other colors around the doors.

Hello Susan. Yes, it's a shopping mall. Just as some of the mills are being turned into apartments this is an old trading place that has been renovated, only this time for shopping. There are lots of little shops all round the edge on two layers. Leeds is brilliant for several different kinds of covered markets.

This is a link to an article about the Leeds Corn Exchange when grain was traded there - including grain being imported from North America.

The most recent photograph in the article was taken before its most recent and more colourful renovation which I think took place last year - 2018.
