Perhaps someone would be able to tell me the purpose of this on an electric fence. Is it simply a support or does it also have a role in conducting the electricity?
Just passing through... So..... It's an Insulator.. Electric fencing insulators allow you to fasten electrified wire, polywire, tape or rope to posts without losing energy through the post.. This will ultimately mean LOW MAINTENANCE of your tape, rope, polywire and wire and GOOD CONDUCTIVITY through your fence...Amen..! :).

I've never seen something quite like that in America, though we do have insulators. I'm appreciative of Willie's explanation!
