ANOTHER RUSTY COG

Rusty cog on dry stone wall. Calderdale.

This time on a dry stone wall. Calderdale.

Surprising because similar to the rusty cog elsewhere - on previous post. Why is it there?

Like the texture and patterns in this stone wall. Someone carried a huge amount of stone.

Hello Taken for Granted. These dry stone walls are fascinating. In the grounds of Shibden Hall (just outside Halifax) there's a permanent exhibition of several different styles of dry stone wall. (This wall is a proper, functioning wall though, a field wall beside a country lane.)

I guess there were many going wandering this week! Another good contrast in shapes.

Hello Susan. It's strange, isn't it, how you see one thing . . . then another . . . then another . . . then not again for years.
