Oh my! What a ordeal for someone to go through.
Hello Andy. Hopefully I can reassure you. There are no number plates on this car. I think this means someone didn't want to pay for their old car to be disposed of in a usually acceptable way so they drove it to a remote spot, removed identifying features, set it on fire and left it there to litter the countryside.
Someone lost a car. Hope it was well insured, and everyone is okay.
Hello Taken for Granted. If it was a stolen car . . . seems to me (as a non-expert) that car insurance is never adequate. In this country it covers the 'value' of the car as decided by . . . well . . . I don't know what. Theoretically it's how much you would have got if you had tried to sell it but in practice it would not be enough to buy a replacement. If a car is functioning perfectly well and safely, getting people to work, taking them on holidays etc. I tend to feel insurers should given them enough money to buy another that will do exactly those things.
Wow. What a blow to someone's budget. Here it seems you are lucky if you get enough for a down payment on another car, or it pays off what you still owe on the old one.
