It looks shabby but the colourful tires brighten things up.

Hello Andy. I have a problem with this photo. I took it early enough in the morning that the image seemed a bit faded so I intensified it a bit. In the original, the colours were muted and the background building and the pile of ordinary black tyres took all the attention. In this version, the painted tyres spring out first. I think the strange building - it seems to be sort of hobbled together - is the most interesting thing in the scene. I have an aversion to fiddling with photos too much . . . but if I were to do something more sophisticated, I'd make the colourful tyres 'recede' so the oddness / interestingness of the structures dominate. 'Shabby' isn't always desirable but it's almost always more interesting because time and people have had a chance to create an individuality that the 'perfect'ly constructed doesn't possess.

The colorful tires do grab our attention. Someone has too much time, and too much paint.

Hello Taken for Granted. That's interesting. I'd viewed the tyres in a different light - that a small company with little money spare to do up the buildings, let alone have smart, official signs made up for them were imaginatively (and cheaply) drawing attention to their business with some worthless old tyres and bits and bobs of paint from the bottoms of old pots.

We won't know which it is - such is the mystery of random photography!

Whichever it is, it makes an interesting photo.
