Intriqued Lucy - what is it?

Is it a lifting bridge or is there a Bracket missing?

Hello Hermes and Easygardener - I like the idea of a Bracket missing!

It's the lifting bridge in Weymouth. It divides just like tower bridge in London and rises on the even hours through the day to let boats in and out of the inner harbour. The line across the road is where the hinge is on the town side - and the little building with the flag is where workers go to operate the mechanism and use the loudspeaker to tell pedestrians to get off the bridge. Traffic lights stop the cars and red and white barriers come down across the road. You can see one of these on Pictures Just Pictures

I don't know what I like best about this, all those vertical lines or the fact that there is blue sky, and no snow in sight. :-) Still snowed under here...

It took me a second or two, but I understand. It's a lift bridge. I like the title and the shot!
