Lucy - was on the way to the dentist yesterday, and had a flash of your photographs and realized that I hadn't been by in a while. Was delighted to hear from you. Can almost feel the texture of the metal and crumbliness of the dried out gunk in Metal Hook on Wooden Shed. Marvelous.
I'm intrigued by the rock building the scaffolding is covering. Your comment on what people take with them on a walk (my photo) got me thinking, if I were to go for a walk it would be all purpose - exercise, certain time to be back by, etc. I think I quite like the Italian idea much better!
Thanks Juan Fuentes. This is one of the advantages of concentrating on the familiar. To others, they are unfamiliar.
Thanks Magiceye.
Hello Sreisaat. Fortunately, I was able to take this photo from outside the building, looking in - so I didn't need to stand under the scaffolding
Hello Pat. It's a 16th century castle, one of two that were built next to Portland Harbour during the reign of Henry V111. Its sibling, across the water, is in much better condition and is a local visitor attraction. This one has been neglected and ignored for years and years. Only now has money been made available for its partial rescue.
Thanks Woody.
Hello Barbarapc. It gave me great pleasure to read that you had thought of my photographs while you were out and about. Hope the dentist appointment went well.
Hello T.Becque. This castle had a short but interesting history. It was built in the reign of Henry V111 and was later taken over by Parliamentary forces during the civil war, then put into the care of someone who lived elsewhere and, I suppose, had no reason to be bothered about it. It was built on the edge of an eroding cliff - hence its condition. I understand some of the stones used in its construction were plundered from an Abbey. There are clearly a lot missing from it . . . so I wonder where they are now and what they were used to build.
Nice post about scaffolding which useful for construction, there should be safe in working at those people... by Scaffolding Manufacturer In Bangalore .

Nice angle, indeed. But walking or being under a scaffolding always gives me the shivers.
