Hello Taken for Granted. I'm finding it fascinating to observe my own emotions as they transform from 'what on earth is this landscape?' into 'wow, this is just incredible! Daunting, dark; not beautiful but tremendous'. A friend said she loves West Yorkshire all the more because she had to learn to love it. It's as if one's eyes gradually open.
It looks beautiful, but I imagine it snow-covered and windswept in winter, and I can see how the beauty would be a bleak kind. I don't know if West Yorkshire gets snow, though.
Hello Susan. Yes. Yorkshire gets snow. Some places used to get cut off in winter but over the last twenty years (I've been told) there has been less and less so that no longer happens. Last winter we had two lots of snow. In town it was only a few inches deep (5?)but enough to enjoy making footprints and snowmen. Having moved up from the south coast of England where there has been little it was a great treat.

This land has a subtle beauty that takes a while to appreciate. Like your photo.
