ABANDONED TYRES

Pile of abandoned tyres on cobbled street.

Halifax is a wonderful place but I have never been anywhere where there is as much rubbish lying around as there is here - both in the town and in the countryside nearby.

Sad to see people would dump old tires in this beautiful place.

Hello Taken for Granted. It's extraordinary. The woodlands and roads beside the moors have all sorts of rubbish tipped out in and beside them - beds, baths, wardrobes, wheels! And the pavements are strewn with wrappers and cans. Have no idea what can be done about it.

In the past decades there were rusty vehicles and all sorts of rubbish in the beautiful Finnish contryside - nowadays fortunately less.

That's amazing, but the way you caught them, they almost look attractive and part of the landscape. You're good at this. It is so great to see you back out taking pictures! I'm glad to know you are out, but I hope there is a matching donor soon.

Hello Riitta. How did the change come about in Finland - that people used to leave their rubbish lying around but no longer do?

Even though I may have a littered auto tire as subject matter in a photo or two (mostly for the green algae that grew on them!), I find the actions of people who do this so utterly disgusting. I have such people where I live, they leave the tires on the edge of my property outside of my fence-always late at night. Two miles down the road is a recycling center that takes them for no charge...
