Hello Susan. Teasels are quite common in the countryside. They are quite tall and prickly. I've not seen one growing in the street like this before though. I think a lot of plants are growing around town because the council has more important things to think about at present than tidying them away. Gold finches like to eat their seeds. If more plants are allowed to grow along the pavements maybe more birds will come into the streets too?
