I think I would call this the struggle for growth.

Weeds are amazing, glad you see the small things in life too! Some people would never notice, or spray to destroy. I love flowering weeds too. Especially when you find them out on a walk. Great contrast. Nice.

Hello Pat. The bricks in this wall are horrid - bright orange. Many ooze black tar. I doubt this plant will be attractive when it grows. However, for a few days, this one brick and this one weed combine to show themselves to advantage. (Gives us all hope!)

Hello GW Bill Miller. (How do you like to be addressed in comments?) I'm truly sorry to have been out of touch with your photos. I dropped notes to many of my favourite photographers when I moved to Message in a Milk Bottle but there were some accidental and glaring omissions, yours being one of them. I'm gradually catching up with myself . . . and with you . . and with the others. (Still not quite there yet!)

Hello Janie2. I haven't been able to do much traveling over the last few years so have had to go over the same old ground many times looking for new photographs. What I find, while I do this, is that there is more and more to see, not less, as one gets to know each patch in detail.

Thanks Woody. I'm glad you like the colours. A designer couldn't have chosen them on purpose to compliment each other and done any better than chance has here.

Lucy

Hermes - I've been thinking about your comment and wondering if I should change the title. I think I'll leave it. One reason is that I'm not sure this plant has to struggle much for growth. Indeed, it might be that many gardeners would struggle to stop it!
